Thinking of joining the group?

We welcome new members on one condition..... that you play an active role (at least once a year) in some aspect of bat conservation as part of the Monmouthshire Bat Group.

Typical activites include:

  • Helping to monitor bat roosts (often outside churches and similar buildings but for the more adventurous can involve railway tunnels, simple caves and trees)

  • Undertaking bat surveys(what could be better than watching bats on a warm summer evening)

  • Helping to manage roost sites

  • Looking after bat casualties

  • Helping to run public events (Bat Nights)

  • Helping out with activities at County shows

All of these events can be great fun, and often provide opportunities to see other wildlife too!

Previous experience is not necessary.

Enthusiasm and a willingness to “get stuck in” are vital.
