Monmouthshire Bat Group
   Home      Your bats?

We need accurate records of bats in Monmouthshire to help their conservation

Can you answer “Yes” to any of these questions?
  • Do you regularly see bats within or emerging from your buildings in Summer?

  • Do you regularly see bats within or emerging from your buildings in Winter?

  • Do you already know that you have a colony of bats which give birth to young in Summer?

  • Do you see a number of bats foraging at dusk in your Garden?

  • Do you see a number of bats foraging at dusk in your Fields?

  • Do you see a number of bats foraging at dusk in your Barns?

If you do please send us an email describing what you see and when.

If you know the species then it helps but if not an indication of size helps (eg size of a blue tit, size of a sparrow, size of a blackbird).

Some members of the group are licensed to work in direct contact with bats and can visit to identify your bats and answer your questions.

If you’d like a qualified worker to visit and give advice on how you and your bats can live together more easily, or for general advice, then please include your request in the email.

Please note we are most interested in records for the county of Monmouthshire.
